I was surprised when I could feel the difference in the weight. Obviously, the use of this product would mean I do not need my laptop, but I will be more than happy to use this product.

This little machine rocks
By Inderjeet

I received my new Acer Aspire One Onyx Black from Amazon/ANTOnline today. This thing is sweeeet. Slim, compact, fits easily in my backpack (smaller than average textbook). Boots up quickly, windows XP runs smoothly. Installed Office 2007 without any issues. WiFi connected to my network quickly, recognized my network printers and drives without any issues. 6 cell battery sticks out a little at the back but matches well with the body. The display rests on the extention of the 6 cell battery and prevents it to fall back. Keyboard and the touchpad is going to require a little getting used to. Excellent value for the price. Well done acer for raising the Bar of netbooks for others not only in quality but also on the price. Other netbooks in the market range from $500 (asus) to $1800 (apple, HP). Most of the software installed are trial versions. I uninstalled almost everything, including google desktop and toolbar. Mcafee comes free for a while but removed that too and installed Norton instead. This is a great little machine for the price. Highly recommend if you are looking for portability at a cheaper price.

Others should Aspire to this"One"

I've spent 30 some years traveling for a living and also just for fun! Always took a laptop along for biz, and occasionally took a small Winbook on personal trips. I found the Acer Aspire One while looking for something else. My unit has the 3 cell battery which will only go approx 2 hours at best. But for travel it's great! It's light, sturdy and the XP software is faster than Vista. Startup time is just about a minute! I can't say enough good things about this unit. Be prepared to buy a portable cd/dvd for down loadning movies, programs etc... I recently found a very compact Sony drive for $100. In this case my total expenditure was $450 for both.
If your looking for a unit to take along on trips - this is it! No need to spend $800 to $1000 for HP or others - this one fills the bill!

Simply AWESOME little laptop!!!

I originally purchased a competitor's solid state netbook with flash only storage. I wanted a small, lightweight device for travel. While this device was handy for surfing, (which is what these are really designed for anyway), it was too slow and had inadequate memory for anything else. Another problem was its 7" screen which caused a horizontal scroll bar on web pages.

I sold that machine to a friend and ordered the Aspire One with its 160GB disk. This little pc is simply amazing! It seems to run almost as well as my desktop! I have loaded pics, pic mgt software, as well as ms office and it runs like a champ. I'm confident that the average business user would have no complaints with word docs, spreadsheets, and email. The battery life is extremely long- longer than any laptop I've ever seen. The machine seems to be solidly built- and the built-in mouse pad is actually useable!

I, of course, don't know what you're looking for- but for me, the Aspire One is the bomb! Probably one of the best purchases I have made in a long time. I give it 5+ STARS !!!!!!
